AC/DC are incredibly overrated

I've personally never understood the appeal in AC/DC. Their music is formulaic, simple and their lyrics have little to no substance at all. An onion has more layers of depth than the lyrics to their songs. Yet, despite their many shortcomings, AC/DC sit high on a pedestal as being one of the most critically acclaimed Australian rock bands of all time and you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't consider them as being one of the best hard rock bands there has ever been.

Call me un-Australian, however I can't help but feel embarrassed over the fact that our music scene is internationally represented by a band as crude and simplistic as AC/DC. I suppose it could be worse; Canada will forever be associated with the pile of shit known as Nickelback. However, I can't say that I believe AC/DC have any more positive qualities to their music than what Nickelback do...

This country has produced so many great artists over the years and it continues to do. I just feel as though it is a massive injustice that bands such as Powderfinger and Spiderbait have hardly no recognition at all overseas, yet a band such as AC/DC receives all the accolades, all the positive press, all the fame associated with being rockstars. It's a shame. Just because a band can hit the drums hard and sound loud, doesn't make their music good! If only more people would realise this.

Okay, I think I've ranted for long enough. Excuse me while I go and listen to "These Days"...
